BOTOX INJECTIONS CHESHIRE
Botox® Injections or Botulinum Toxins have been used commercially since 1987. The toxin selectively attacks the neuromuscular endplate which connects the nerve to the muscle. We use Botox cosmetically to weaken the muscles of facial expression which are responsible for most of the lines around the eyes and elsewhere on the face.
When we started doing this the dosage regime was fairly harsh and facial movements were severely restricted. The current trend is for a softer more natural look which allows us to achieve a significant line improvement whilst maintaining normal facial expression. Botox therapy can be adjusted on an individual basis to produce almost any sort of look the patient desires..
The most important aspect of Botox therapy for the patient is its safety record. It is not possible for Botox to produce a permanent effect. The muscles of facial expression recover completely in approximately 3 to 4 months. This is both a plus and a minus.
The plus is the safety, the minus is that you will need to repeat the Botox treatments approximately every 12 weeks.
Botox can also be used to treat excessive sweating (known as Hyperhydrosis). In this instance Botox is used to treat the neuroendocrine end plate which is attached to the sweat glands. This effect lasts a lot longer at approximately 6 months.

Many people have heard the word Botox and can identify that it helps get rid of wrinkles and give you youthful looking skin. It is used widely by celebrities and men and women alike are desperate to regain their youthful looks. Botox is becoming ever more popular and with hundreds of different face creams and remedies that just don’t work or take years, people are opting for a quicker solution.
What is Botox?
Botox is actually a trade name for a substance that is injected into your skin. Botox is a drug made from a neurotoxin which is produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum; also known as Botulinum Toxin. Botox is used medically for a range of different muscular conditions as well as cosmetically
How does it work?
The botulinum toxin works by temporarily paralysing or weakening certain muscles or by blocking nerves. When Botox is injected into a muscle, it can no longer contract. This causes the wrinkles to soften and relax so the appearance of frown lines, crows feet and overall wrinkles are reduced. The effects may be seen from as little as 72 hours or up to 7 days after treatment. On average botox can last approximately 3-4 months but it can be longer or shorter depending on each individual, as everyone has different muscle structure.
What are the risks?
As with all injections, there may be some risks. Although the risks are usually unlikely, having a Botox injection may cause some side effects. Some of the possible side effects include:
- Bruising, pain or swelling at the injection site
- Flu-like symptoms or headaches
- Unusually watery or very dry eyes
- Drooling or uneven smile
- Misshaped eyebrows
Although very rare, the botulinum toxin may travel to different parts of the body and enter the central nervous system. This can be fatal so it is important to look out for any of these signs and call a doctor immediately if any of these problems arise after having Botox.
- Breathing difficulties
- Vision problems
- Extreme muscle pain or weakness all over
- Difficulty speaking or swallowing
- Loss of bladder control
- General feeling of being very unwell
To avoid any major side effects or complications of Botox, it is important that you only receive it from a skilled and certified doctor. Many beauty salons and black market companies offer botox at an unbeatable price but usually these people are not licensed or trained to perform Botox. This heightens the risks of getting side effects or getting seriously ill from having a Botox injection.
The Benefits of Botox
The biggest and most popular benefit of having Botox is the reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. Botox is top of the list for many celebrities and average people alike. There are many face creams, serums, and masks on the market which promote wrinkle reduction but many of these creams can take months, even years to show any effect and some just don’t work at all. Botox is the quickest way to reduce wrinkles without having to go under the knife.
Botox offers more than just cosmetic benefits. It is also used to treat minor medical conditions such as excessive sweating, twitching eyes and bladder control. Botox has been clinically proven to reduce migraines and it is becoming increasingly considered for treating people who suffer with long term chronic migraines .
Botox can improve your confidence and enhance your mood. Ageing gets everyone down and the appearance of ageing can knock your confidence. Botox can offer you that youthful looking smile and skin that looks healthy and supple. There is no need to worry about frown lines or crows feet when you express yourself and this gives you the freedom to enjoy life more without the stress of being self conscious.
