THERMAGE THERAPY | Effective Wrinkle Treatment Cheshire

Many of my patients presenting with lines to fill show me the effect they would like to achieve by pulling up on their faces and lifting everything back into its original place. Conventionally this was only possible with a surgeons knife. We have attempted to pretend to lift by masking the visible lines with fillers but this does not reverse the inevitable effects of gravity which gradually drag down the structures of the face.

Thermage® is a newly developed technique which produces skin tightening by using radio frequency energy to heat your own internal collagen. This collagen is mostly in a form of a complex triple helix protein which, much like frayed polypropylene rope, contracts when heated to 55 to 62 degrees. The Thermacool® device produces controlled heat energy to allow us to selectively defy gravity and use skin tightening procedures to lift the facial structure back towards their original positions.

Thermage® is quite an expensive procedure as the technology is costly. Despite this,Thermage® is able to achieve results that were hitherto impossible. The Thermage® procedure takes place in an office environment and lasts up to a couple of hours. There is a reasonable amount of discomfort involved but this is tailored to the patients own tolerance. In terms of possible side effects blistering has very occasionally been noted with very rare instances of some loss of subcutaneous fat in areas that were intensely heated.

Despite the negatives discussed regarding Thermage® this new procedure does allow us to achieve results that were only previously in the realm of the surgeon. Naturally a face lift can provide a lot more “lift” and if you have plenty to lift then we have contacts with surgeons who can advise you on the most appropriate treatment.

The other bit of good news is that the Thermage team have been working on a whole heap of new developments over the last few years and we now offer specific tailored treatments for body skin tightening neck/décolletage/tummy/thighs/arms/knees, body contouring tummy/lovehandles/
